The Mission of Bright Threads Ministries is to help church leadership transform relationships and practices with people who have developmental disabilities.
Purposes: To demonstrate to a marginalized population that each person can experience the love of Jesus Christ and each person can use his/her gifts to share God’s love with others. As churches change relationships and practices, people of all abilities can be woven into the fabric of congregations.
About the Director: Evelyn Worth McMullen, D.Ed.Min.
As a Director of Christian Education with 30 years of experience in small, medium and large churches, I’ve guided leaders to help people of all abilities belong and tap into their many gifts.
God led me into ministry with people with developmental disabilities, and since 2004 this has included:
- Developing a community of adults with intellectual disabilities who learn, worship, and serve with the church;
- Offering a respite program for families with children with special needs;
- Building relationships with members of a local residential community and their families.
It’s been a wonderful journey that led me toward a Doctor of Educational Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary, specializing in ministry with adults with intellectual disabilities.
