Coming Soon – Casting Out Fear Video Series

Bright Threads Ministries is producing a series of 4 training videos… “CASTING OUT FEAR: Volunteers & Kids with Special Needs.”

These short videos, 3 – 5 minutes each, will help volunteers learn to respond to behaviors exhibited by children with developmental disabilities, particularly autism spectrum disorders. Instructors will demonstrate responses to a selection of these behaviors: meltdowns, poor attention, hyperactivity, non-compliance, aggression, and communication difficulties.

Adult Disciples with Special Needs

Adult Disciples with Special Needs

Adult Disciples with Special Needs is a half-day seminar for church leaders and volunteers about ministry to adults with special needs.

Saturday, October 15
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
First Presbyterian Church
637 6th Street NW
Winter Haven, FL
Cost: $15

Jesus gave us a vision in Luke 14: Reach out to the people on the margins of our communities and bring them in “that my house may be filled.”

Are adults with developmental disabilities in your church family? Are they participating in meaningful ways?

Could your congregation reach out to adults with special needs in your community?

Come learn how to strengthen existing ministries of worship, learning, and service, leading to a more inclusive congregational life.

Family members, send this post to your church leaders. Start the conversation!

Leadership:

Dr. Evelyn McMullen – Director of Bright Threads Ministries

Abigail Roe – Graduate student, Southeastern University

Rev. Bill Fisackerly – St. James United Methodist Church, Tampa

Rev. Meg Pabst – Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, Tampa

Several adults with special needs will share their hopes for meaningful participation in their church families.
